About CandidComment™

CandidComment™ is a social media platform built for honest conversation. It is a place to post, comment, and talk with other people directly, without the noise, the manipulation, and the guesswork about what is being done with what you say.

Why it exists

Most platforms are designed to keep you scrolling and to turn your words and your attention into a product to be sold. We wanted something plainer and more honest: a place where people can speak candidly, disagree openly, and always know the rules and where they stand. That is the whole idea behind the name. Say what you think, in your own words, and expect the same in return.

What you can do here

Create a profile, connect with other people, and follow the conversations you care about. Share your own posts, comment on what others put up, and take part in the discussions you choose to be part of. The people you interact with are real users, and the conversation belongs to them.

What we stand for

Candor. This is a space for saying what you actually mean. We ask that you keep it lawful and civil, but we are not here to sand the edges off honest disagreement.

No algorithm. Your feed is not sorted, ranked, boosted, or seeded with content by a recommendation engine. You see what you chose to follow, in the order it was posted. No more wondering why you're getting content you didn't ask for.

Privacy. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not run the targeted-advertising and profiling machinery that treats your activity as inventory. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over your information.

No cost to you. CandidComment™ is free to use. There are no subscriptions and no paywalls. The platform is sponsored only by local businesses that want to support it, not by an advertising network and not by anything built on tracking you. Their support is what keeps your access free and your data your own.

Transparency. Our Terms and our Privacy Policy are written to be read rather than buried. If something changes, we say so.

Responsibility. CandidComment™ is not a service for children. We screen for age and protect younger users in the ways Virginia and federal law require, and we take the safety of the people who use the platform seriously.

Who is behind it

CandidComment™ is operated by Dave Briggman. I am not owned by a data broker or an advertising network. The platform is supported by local businesses that believe in it, which keeps us answerable to the people who use CandidComment™ rather than to anyone paying for their attention.
